Here and Now

Here and Now

It's crazy to think that we as staff have been back together again from outreach for only a month; so much has happened in that time! Just a 4 weeks ago, we had the honor of graduating our first school, and as they left to return home we took two weeks to rest and allow God revive us through seeing friends, family, and having time to process the previous season. It was a very sweet time with God for all of us.
We returned to a great Monday morning community worship time and got to be with our Oakhurst family again and along with that we also got to welcome two new staff members, Rob and Sandy. They have already been a huge blessing and it's been so fun to have them on our team! That day after worship we began what would be our first week of training as a staff team going into the next season. We are stepping into defining the culture and atmosphere for YWAM Yosemite which is coming through establishing staff roles and expectations, vision and heart behind our base, as well as what it looks like to develop habits in ourselves that we desire to see cultivate in our future staff and students.
We ended our training week with retreating to Yosemite Valley for a couple of days to camp, climb, and play together! There's something really special about going into the wilderness with people because it gives you an entirely different environment to operate in; one that you wouldn't have elsewhere. It was so freeing to wake up in the early morning and all gather around the fire to keep warm, Nate making an outdoor french-press coffee for everyone, and eating endless amounts of pancakes! We also had many opportunities to share our testimonies with other people around the campground and on the trails. Camping in Yosemite was a great way to end our week of training and I love to be a part of a culture that enjoys doing these kinds of things!
Currently we are all working in our assigned departments. There are a lot of day-to-day operational things that have to happen in order for a ministry to properly function. Some of these operations are communications, media, registrar, hospitality, personnel, maintenance, and so much more. It is so fun to all have our separate places here, and yet we are all intertwined with one another and the community. Being on staff here gives me such an amazing picture and representative of how God calls us to operate as a church in it's whole. Although we are not a church, we get to be a part of the church in such a beautiful way, and I love it.
