Team Thailand: Short Stories

My Favorite Moment Yet!

God continues to blow my heart up and explode it with the opportunities He gives us to love people! Today is our "off day" to relax, catch up with friends and family, etc., and we decided to spend it at a local coffee shop.

When @lissagarrard and I were approached by a Thai woman asking for food we decided to take her to the 7/11 down the road. She held her one-year-old son while pregnant with another child on the way.

We gave her a "baby shower" and treated her to the store to get anything and everything she needed for both her and her babies. By the time we left the store she had too much to carry so we thought it best to get her a stroller too!

That's where these ladies come in-- two Muslim Thai women at a local shop helped get us a stroller for our new friend and told us that, "we want to help you because you are helping her." So they gave us a deal to bless this lady!

All in all, my heart is beyond full not only because we had the honor of blessing this woman with the necessities we so often take for granted, but also because God brought together a Buddhist woman and Muslim women to encamp around the love of the Father and Creator of the universe to show them His real and tangible love and that He is at the center, at the very middle of every good thing. There is no good thing apart from the Father, and they were told and shown that today.

"We, though, are going to love—love and be loved. First we were loved, now we love. He loved us first. If anyone boasts, “I love God,” and goes right on hating his brother or sister, thinking nothing of it, he is a liar. If he won’t love the person he can see, how can he love the God he can’t see? The command we have from Christ is blunt: Loving God includes loving people. You’ve got to love both." 1 John 4:19-21
